Above.Land is a fantasy 3D action RPG under development in Unreal. The game follows players as they fight to liberate mythical creatures from an overwhelming evil. Players must master skills, upgrade their equipment, and hone their strategies in order to save the world. More information will be added as it is publicly released.

Responsibilities

I was tasked with creating and implementing characters, writing dialogue, designing quests, and otherwise bringing the vibrant land of Above Land to life with a particular focus on creating a sense of community.

Narrative

Remote AAA narrative design experience using industry-standard tools
Created 30 NPC bios and designed their content in-engine: default & conditional dialogue, side-quests, facial data, clothing data, animations, and environmental stories
Wrote & implemented branching dialogue & quests using Flow Graph and Data Assets
Created placeholder dialogue animation montages with facial expressions & lip-syncing
Entrusted with voice actor direction during third party recording sessions

Level Design

Created test levels for rapid prototyping of narrative assets
Placed spawners, actors, and grey boxed assets in levels

Game Design

Pitched dungeon concepts and themed gimmicks
Designed interactives to express narrative with minimal scope
